Why Lenovo YOGA C930 is the best laptop of 2019?

Lenovo YOGA C930 Review

Last year’s Lenovo YOGA 920 impressed us with its stylish hinge, excellent display and long battery life, so I had high hopes for its successor YOGA C930. I can happily announce that the new laptop does not disappoint. In addition to the upgraded components, the C930 has a new hinge design that is more functional and has a built-in sound bar. The utilitarian design of the YOGA C930 also has a built-in stylus slot and a small webcam clasp for added privacy.

These additions already make the C930 a more intriguing device than its predecessor. Add a long battery life and stylish design, and the C930 is undoubtedly the best laptop in 2019 in our opinion. Below we bring to your attention the specifications of this device, we note that we have a laptop in the maximum configuration.

Display: 13.9 “Ultra HD (3840 × 2160) IPS, touch, anti-glare;

Memory (permanent): SSD 1024 GB PCIe;
Graphics Adapter: Integrated, Intel® UHD Graphics 620;
Adapters: WLAN a / c, Bluetooth® 4.2;
Optical drive: No;
Color: Bronze;
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit;

Design of Lenovo YOGA C930

The YOGA C930 may not be as great as its mechanical predecessor, but what it loses in beauty, it pays off in functionality. Dozens of tiny openings cover a smooth, cylindrical surface that allows two C930 speakers to emit sound outside, regardless of the orientation of the laptop. Like the 2-in-1, the YOGA C930 can be transformed from a traditional laptop into a tablet.

Those who prefer a minimalist design will appreciate the restraint Lenovo found with the YOGA C930 design. The gray cover is opaque except for the stylized chrome YOGA logo in one corner. Open the lid and you will find the same metal cover on the front, keyboard and touchpad.

The lid marking includes the barely visible Dolby Atmos logo and the Lenovo logo, which are located on an additional mini hinge a few inches to the left of the soundbar. On the right side of the device is a power button, and the fingerprint sensor fits into the deck directly under the arrow on the right keyboard.

Not only does the YOGA C930 look great, it is also very durable. The screen did not budge when I was using the stylus.

Thin as a razor, the front panels around the three display sizes are commonplace for premium laptops in 2018, but with the YOGA C930, the webcam is positioned above the display. However, a thick black strip borders the bottom of the screen, giving the illusion that it is a few inches from the deck.

Ports of Lenovo YOGA C930

Several ports offered on the YOGA C930 are on the left. These include a USB 3.1 port, two Thunderbolt 3 inputs and a headphone jack. That’s it. The right side is bare except for the power button.

Display of Lenovo YOGA C930

Lenovo YOGA’s 13.9-inch Ultra HD (3840 × 2160) IPS display is detailed, but not as impressive as other premium laptops.

As I watched the new season of Lucifer, I could see all the details in the shot. The display depicted small details in its subtle expressions.

On the plus side, I had no problems using my finger or stylus to draw images on the touchpad.

The YOGA C930’s panel covers 100% of sRGB, which is a step up from what you’ll find on regular and budget laptops. But compared to displays on other premium machines, yoga is far short. For comparison, the Specter x360 reproduces 109 percent of the sRGB color gamut, and the 1080p XPS 13 – 117 percent.

The brightness of the display is not a strength of the YOGA C930. The maximum brightness of the panel reached 273 bolts, which is below the mark achieved by XPS 13 (372 bolts), ZenBook Flip 14 (274 bolts) and the average by category (311 bolts).

Keyboard, touchpad and stylus

Although Lenovo ThinkPads does not meet the high standards set by Lenovo ThinkPads, the YOGA C930 keyboard is well suited for such a slim laptop.

This is despite the fact that the keys are relatively thick, at 1.3 millimeters (we prefer at least 1.5 mm of key travel). The high triggering force of 75 grams gives the keys some weight, but they can feel stiff during long print sessions. A quiet blow gives a good response when pressed. I have no complaints about the distance and size of the backlit keys.

The large 4.1 x 2.7 inch touch panel on the YOGA C930 is sensual. I used a smooth surface to quickly scroll through Google Chrome web pages and performed numerous Windows 10 gestures on the first attempt, including swiping with three fingers to open applications and pressing four fingers to open the action center. To the right of the touchpad is a fingerprint sensor that makes logging in easy and fast.

The stylus is inserted into the pen socket on the back of the laptop, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting where you put it.

Sound of Lenovo YOGA C930

A two-speaker hinge easily fills the medium-sized room with rich, juicy sound. There was not the slightest hint of distortion from the hinge, even at maximum volume when I was listening to music.

Productivity of Lenovo YOGA C930

Featuring an Intel Core i7-8550U processor, the YOGA C930 handled our real-world performance test perfectly, quickly downloading 15 Google Chrome tabs in no time. 2-in-1 had no problem launching Fortnite on Twitch in Full HD and YouTube videos of the funniest nightly talk shows.

With the Core i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM, our YOGA C930 review unit scored 15 952 points in the Geekbench 4 test, which determines overall performance. This exceeds the performance of the Specter x360 (Core i7-8550U; 13 569), ZenBook Flip 14 (Core i7-8550U; 12 799). We also played some video games, one of these is GTA V. And the new YOGA coped with the challenge of URA, no braking, the whole ride around the city was fun.

Battery of Lenovo YOGA C930

And finally, what we wanted to talk about. The laptop worked 10 hours and 10 minutes in the Battery Mag Battery Laptop test (continuous 150-wifi Wi-Fi web surfing), exceeding the average on a laptop (8:11). This is almost identical to the time reached by its predecessor.

Here is everything we wanted to tell you in this review, we definitely recommend buying a new YOGA. So you will tell us that maybe the price is overpriced in the region of 60 000 hryvnia, but it is justified by the expectation for that price.

If you need a device that will never let you down and will quickly accomplish different types of tasks, this is definitely “YES”.
