Features of Huawei Mate 30 Pro

Features of Huawei Mate 30 Pro

The presentation of HUAWEI’s new Mate 30 flagship line took place in Munich yesterday, and we’ve already been introduced to the latest news. Particularly impressed with the Pro version. Despite the outward resemblance to its predecessor, changes in smartphones are enough. Let’s talk in more detail and share our first impressions.

Design and Ergonomics of Huawei Mate 30 Pro

Compared to its predecessor, the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro has less rounded corners, but does not cause discomfort when used. The smartphone is large, so it is not convenient for anyone. The glass on the back is instantly covered with prints, which, however, are just as easy to erase.

Almost the entire front is occupied by a 6.53-inch OLED panel with edges bent at an 88-degree angle. This solution was called “Screen Waterfall”. It seems as though the display goes to the back. The manufacturer unusually played this form, completely abandoning the physical volume buttons. To change it, swipe on the side of the display (right or left). The movement of the finger is accompanied by vibration. It takes some getting used to. At a minimum, you will need to adjust the volume during a call.

Like its predecessor, there is a cutout at the top of the screen, but it is noticeably smaller. It houses a front camera and a sensor system for 3D face recognition. You can also unlock your smartphone with the next-generation, fingerprint scanner, which works instantly.

The speaker inside the USB Type-C connector this time decided to give up. Recall that in the Mate 20 Pro because of this, the sound became quieter while charging. But IP68 water protection has not gone anywhere.

Display of Huawei Mate 30 Pro

The Mate 30 Pro screen features a rich palette, a good margin of brightness and the ability to calibrate. Of the disadvantages, note that the inevitable distortion of colors on the curved faces, which is especially noticeable on a white background.

More attention would be paid to programs related to the display. For example, in side-facing games, you can turn on virtual triggers and use pointing fingers to control like gamepads. Also, when shooting at the front camera, you can press the side to take selfies.

The smartphone is able to monitor the position of the head relative to the screen and to expand the image in the right direction. It turns out a kind of advanced auto-rotation. For example, if you lie on your side and hold your smartphone horizontally around your eyes – the picture will not flip.

Another useful feature is spyware protection. If the device sees that in addition to the owner, someone else is staring at the screen, then notes, messages, and other personal information are automatically hidden from the display.

You can control your smartphone without touching it. The camera and sensor system above the display is capable of tracking gestures, allowing you to flip through lists, switch and control video playback. For example, by clenching your fist over your device, you can take a screenshot.

Still on Display support, Current time, incoming call information, messages and messages are still displayed on the off screen.

The camera is one of the main criteria when choosing a mobile phone. The HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro uses a number of unique and advanced solutions. Suffice it to say, it is the world’s first smartphone with a dual 40MP camera.

In addition to the 40MP RYYB sensor with optical stabilization, another novelty is the 40MP module with an 18mm focal length lens. It allows wide-angle 4K time slaps and can shoot video from ISO up to 51,200, which was previously available only in professional cameras. But the main thing is to record slow motion videos at up to 7680 frames per second. Before that, the mobile record was 960 fps. That is, the new Mate 30 Pro manages to shoot 8 times more frames per unit time. According to HUAWEI, even ball movement can be captured in this mode.

Back in the Mate 30 Pro, there is a 3D depth sensor for more accurate blurring of the background and a third camera – 8MP with 3x optical and 5x hybrid zoom. The TV has optical stabilization.

In the short time of the first acquaintance we have not been able to test the camera HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro. Soon, expect separate material with sample photos.

Filling and firmware of Huawei Mate 30 Pro

The smartphone has the latest Kirin 990 processor without 5G support. HUAWEI’s flagships in recent years have no performance issues, and they are at the top of the system in terms of speed. But in the Mate 30 Pro, we thought the interface was even more responsive, and the launch was noticeably faster. Perhaps this is due to the new shell EMUI 10 and the Ark compiler of its own design.

EMUI 10 is significantly different from the previous version. The developers have updated the user interface, inspired by magazines with large headlines, changed the palette in favor of light pastel colors, added a dark theme, redrawn the icons of standard applications and programs themselves, adapting them under one-hand control. More about the system is in our previous review.

Time for the first acquaintance was given a little and thoroughly to study its functions and features just was not possible. We are eager to know how much a smartphone runs on a 4,500 mAh battery and how long it charges from a powerful charge – 40W wired and wireless at 27. But the Mate 30 Pro is of most interest. We will explore the new flagship in detail and tell you the details soon.
